The Source of All Evil?

Thinking of buying that shitty Rage Against the Machine track to thwart the chart-topping monopoly of Cowell and his cohorts this Christmas? Yeah, don't bother.

Okay, so the past four Christmas number ones have been from Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Leon Jackson and Alexandra Burke. The connection? All winners of ITV's overblown karaoke competition The X Factor. It seems that so many of the public have been duped into believing that the show offers genuine talent and artistry that the coveted Christmas number one spot is now practically sewn up.

This year, however, dissenters amongst the ranks have launched a viral campaign to get Killing In The Name Of to number one instead of the same-old dead-cert X Factor winner.

The major flaw with this hee-larious scheme is that evil overlord Cowell will profit either way.

He has links to Sony BMG - they own his record label and have exclusive rights to the X Factor winners.  And, as many journalists have pointed out, there seems to be a mysterious reappearance of tracks owned by Sony within The X Factor itself. Coincidence? Probably not.

Needless to say, Rage Against the Machine are signed to Sony BMG too. So with any money they make from sales of Killing In The Name Of over Christmas, a portion of these profits will eventually make their way into Cowell's pockets (which are located somewhere above his nipples).

So don't just boycott The X Factor, boycott the boycott too!
